Because of the recent bombing in Boston, "Ceuf” was pulled from the schedule and replaced with "Coquilles”, the fifth episode in the season. That episode involved someone teaching kids to murder other kids, which considering the way current news has been over the events going on in Boston, probably was the smart move. But in order to still cover the subplots furthered in the season instead of focusing on the main plot of "Ceuf”, NBC has presented those pieces of subplot online to see. Since its highly unlikely those in the U.S. will get to see "Ceuf” until the inevitable DVD release at best, this first part of this article will touch on those webisodes specifically.
--The first deals with Graham and Lecter, as Graham sits down with the doctor and discusses his failure in the Shrike case, like his failure to save Abigail Hobbs from injury at the hands of her father. It also touches upon his failure to save Abigail’s friend Marissa from an identical copycat killing. We also get a brief scene of Hannibal searching through Graham’s house while he’s gone, and playing with Graham’s fish bait.
--The second deals with Abigail’s time in an institution, where she seems to be unable to completely let go of her trauma. So Alana talks to Hannibal about it, where he suggests offhandedly to taking care of Abigail.
--Another conversation with Graham and Hannibal regarding Abigail, and specifically family, or lack of in Graham’s case. They touch on Graham’s surrogate family of dogs, which explains why Hannibal would have keys to the house. Then, we see Hannibal and Crawford enjoy a bit of rabbit for dinner, or as we see in a brief flash, probably a poor sap who "should’ve hopped faster”.
--Then, Hannibal talks to Graham about his impulsive buying of a present for Abigail (a magnifying glass used for fishing). That leads to Hannibal discussing with Abigail the possibility of her living with him at his house.
--At Lecter’s house, Hannibal talks to Abigail about her future while cooking a meal with ‘shrooms. So yeah, he’s trying to get her high to deal with her pain. That goes over better than expected.
--The removal of Abigail doesn’t sit well with Alana, who chews out Hannibal for doing such a thing behind her back. He apologizes, but also hides the whole drugging Abigail thing by saying she had an anxiety episode which he solved with some valium. She hallucinates both Hannibal and Alana are her parents while they all sit down for a sausage and eggs dinner. The last thing we see is Jack talking to his wife about maybe having kids, but she seems distant when answering that’s probably not going to happen. That proves to be important in the next episode.
