04/18/2013 (10:01PM - 11:00PM) (Thursday) : Hannibal HIDES A SECRET FROM JACK BUT NOT WITHOUT CONSEQUENCES - Jack (Laurence Fishburne) theorizes that Abigail (Kacey Rohl) may have aided her father ,Garret Jacob Hobbs (Vladimir Cubrt) in his serial killings. Against Dr. Alana Bloom's (Caroline Dhavernas) advice ,but at Hannibal's (Mads Mikkelsen) behest, Abigail is escorted back to Minnesota, where she discovers much violent hostilityagainst her and her family. Things go from bad to worse when a copycat killer murders a friend of Abigail. Hannibal suggests they hide the body to protect Abigail - but secrets come at a cost.

Hannibal 1x02 "Amuse-Bouche" - Will Graham (Hugh Dancy), now an official special investigator with the FBI, helps Jack Crawford (Laurence Fishburne) and the BAU unit search for a murderer who buries his victims alive to grow mushrooms. In their therapy sessions, Hannibal (Mads Mikkelsen) begins to gain Will's trust as they bond over responsibility for Abigail (guest star Kacey Rohl), and helps Will open up about his true feelings about killing Hobbs. Meanwhile, Freddie Lounds (guest star Lara Jean Chorostecki) snoops around the BAU's investigation. Caroline Dhavernas and Hettienne Park also star.

Tonight’s premiere of NBC’s Hannibal (see Jeff Jensen’s review here) is probably one of the most Stanley Kubrick-ian hours of TV ever made. Showrunner Bryan Fuller was heavily influenced by late filmmaker genius and has filled his new series with subtle (and not-so-subtle) homages to Kubrick’s work. Hannibal is particularly influenced by one of Kubrick’s most commercially successful films — 1980′s The Shining. In fact, there’s even one set (photos above) that’s directly inspired by a famous moment in the film. Below Fuller talks about Kubrick and the filmmaker’s influence on the show, a prequel series to the Hannibal Lecter novels by Thomas Harris.
